Following the CopenX and Børneriget hackathon in December 2018, my team and the other team that won merged to collaborate on a platform for an AR play experience intended to motivate children to move and socialize (in this case, while they are in hospital frequently or for long periods of time).

As a team, we created a free-play interactive AR game we called "Kupla" (meaning "bubble" in Finnish) using a Microsoft HoloLens provided by Khora. This game allows children to take control of their environment by placing elements in their room and around the hospital. Each of these elements can combine and interact with each other, and users are encouraged to explore and cooperate with other players to complete quests and discover new things about the game's world. The plan would be to eventually provide many themed worlds and interaction/game styles for the users to interact with, in order to fit more interest groups (since the intention is for this to be implemented in a children's hospital, where users are potentially ranging from maybe 2-3 years old to 18 years old).

The photos of the hospital rooms above were created by the graphic designer on our team as a demonstration of the visuals of the game. In the prototype we created, users would be able to send and see/hear messages with other users, place elements around the hospital and their rooms, and overall create a more comfortable and fun space for themselves.

The snapshots below demonstrate a rough version of my proposal for accessing the game as an app via tablet. On the home screen, the user would be able to see an overview of available quests, as well as access to other features such as their profile, a map of nearby friends and quests, and notifications about current "conditions" (e.g. weather and item availability) in the game world. On their profile, they would be able to track the items they've placed, and the quests they've accepted/posted.
